We are now accepting applications for Guardian Homes for the puppies below.

Our Guardian Home program allows our breeding dogs both male and female to be fostered by loving forever homes while still maintaining status as a breeding dog for a contracted number of litters (females – max litters of 4). The Guardian seeks to provide a puppy with a loving forever home and also support the Breeder’s breeding needs through the Guardian Home Program.

This program allows us to continue to follow our passion in breeding because as our males and females retire as we do not re-home retired breeding dogs.

There are benefits to joining our Guardian Home Program!

  • No cash outlay to purchase puppy
  • Puppies are “pick-of-the-litter” quality
  • Female guardian homes can confidently vacation while their dog is whelping (around 8-9 weeks)
  • Cash Incentive for Female and Male guardian homes based on breeding success

Guardian homes must be within a 60 minute drive of Bond Head (Bradford), ON and be willing to do the driving to bring the dog/puppy to Bradford. Guardian’s must hold a valid driver’s license, have reliable transportation and own their home with a fenced back yard.

A Guardian Home is a family that co-owns a Bernedoodle, Poodle or Bernese Mountain Dog of ours while we retain breeding rights. The dog would live in your home just like any other pet, but will come to us for breeding purposes. Once retired, the breeding rights end and you will be the sole owner of the dog. Approved guardians will receive a well-bred, health tested puppy with an excellent temperament free of charge.

Guardian Home families are responsible for all normal costs associated with owning a dog, including food and supplies, regular vet visits, deworming, vaccinations, heartworm, tick & flea prevention, etc. Rocky View Bernedoodles will cover all costs associated with annual wellness checks, health testing, breeding and whelping, and all food costs for when the dog is in our care.

For our female guardians, we retain exclusive breeding rights for up to 4 litters. She will stay with us for one week during breeding, then will typically return to us 7-10 days before her puppies are due. Mom will stay with us until the puppies are weaned and joining their homes at 8 weeks of age. During her stay with us, you are welcome to come and visit your dog and her puppies at a scheduled time.

Once the guardian dog has completed her breeding career and she is spayed, the contract ends and the dog is yours to keep. Please remember: all females will live in our home for up to four 9-week periods in her lifetime. If you are not comfortable with your dog leaving your home for extended periods of time, the guardian program is probably not for you. We treat all of our guardian dogs as our own and they receive the absolute best care when they stay with us.

For our male guardians, we retain breeding rights until his 7th birthday. He will be used with our females, and for stud services to approved, health tested females owned by other breeders. He will be required for up to 1 week per scheduled breeding. We endeavour to provide at least 1 week’s notice for all breeding requirements and expect our males to be used approximately 4-6 times per year .
